Susan approaches teaching with one core belief: Yoga can be practiced by everyone. That doesn't mean everyone can (or should) contort themselves into the shapes seen in yoga magazines. Instead, yoga can be practiced in a variety of ways, including restorative shapes, meditation, and pranayama (breath work). Susan first tried yoga in 1999, but it wasn't until the mid-2000s when her deeper work with meditation and pranayama brought her into a more consistent asana practice. Yoga became a lifeline as Susan worked through issues with insomnia, anxiety, and past trauma. In 2014, Susan decided to take her first 200-hour yoga teacher training program. In the years since, Susan has expanded her knowledge through programs focused on functional anatomy and various yoga styles. Yet, Susan has also learned a lot from working with students directly, both in private and group settings. Whether your focus is on building strength and balance, exploring flexibility, or managing stressful emotions, Susan is happy to offer support and guidance. Outside of yoga, Susan writes novels and enjoys several hobbies, including knitting and crochet, reading, and playing the piano.
